MANAGING DIRECTOR

Ian founded ID in 1990 after a police career predominantly spent in the Criminal Investigation Department. He also served in the Serious Crime Squad and during his studies was awarded the "Most Meritorious Student in Scotland in Forensic Science".

Focusing on the needs of the customer is at the core of Ian's business philosophy and he is driven by ID's mission of "protecting the value in your business". Ian achieves this by always employing top-quality staff to guarantee the integrity of his business and matches this by using robust, quality process-driven systems.

David MacmillanContact
NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

David is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Invocas plc, a specialist financial services company based in Scotland.

Formerly UK Retail Director at Standard Life plc, and before that, Sales and Marketing Director of Standard Life Bank Ltd, David has advised ID for over ten years in the areas of strategy, operations management, as well as sales and marketing.

John McGowanContact
OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

Before joining ID John worked for seven years as the Scottish Senior Investigator for the Federation Against Copyright Theft. He lobbied for and then contributed to an enforcement and prosecution strategy for intellectual property crime at FACT which led to enforcement and prosecutions for IP crime becoming routine across Scotland.

John served 32 years in the Scottish Police Service, mainly in Strathclyde, retiring as a Superintendent. In the 1990s as a Detective Chief Inspector based in Paisley, John designed and implemented a strategic plan to tackle a spate of murders and racketeering linked with the illicit drugs trade; this plan was later adopted across other police forces.

Later in his police service John concentrated on Special Operations and also worked abroad on terrorist and international fraud enquiries as well as in Northern Ireland.

LITIGATION AND PERFORMANCE DIRECTOR

Bobby is a former police Superintendent with Strathclyde Police having served in the Force for 32 years. During his police career he occupied a number of specialist posts in criminal investigation, namely surveillance, serious crime squad, stolen vehicle section, forensic support, crime scene management and Head of C.I.D. in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde. Bobby was responsible for the overall investigation of 48 murder enquiries during a 4 year period, working autonomously when required, and at other times leading highly effective teams.

He was highly commended by the Chief Constable for showing exemplary leadership in managing and co-ordinating the response to crime scene examinations in the dynamic investigation, following the terrorist attack on Glasgow International Airport on 30 June 2007.  In October 2009, at the Scottish Policing Awards, Bobby was presented with the High Commendation Award, by the Cabinet Secretary for Justice, in recognition of his policing performance In Public Reasurrance and Community Safety.

Bobby is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and holds a B.Sc. ( Honours ) degree in Sociology and Criminology.

BUSINESS MANAGER

Alison has a degree in Marketing and Psychology from the University of Strathclyde Business School and a Post Graduate Certificate and Diploma in Professional Management from the Open University.

She joined ID more than a decade ago and has been instrumental in driving its growth to make it Scotland's premier investigation company, through the implementation of strategic recruitment, training and innovative, quality-driven procedures. Alison took the company through ISO 9001:2000 (now 2008) Quality Assurance in 2001 and Investors in People in 2004.

Jim SmithContact
CONSULTANT

Jim joined our team as consultant in 2010 having spent his previous working life in  law enforcement and security in both the public and private sectors.    After completing 30 years as a Police Officer with Lothian and Borders Police, working mainly in the criminal investigation arena he moved on into security management within the private sector.    This move took him to Diageo, the world's leading premium drinks company where after a spell as Security Manager he was appointed Security Advisor for Scotland.    With this appointment Jim had an active involvement in the cross discipline support programme deployed to address their global anti counterfeit agenda.

Latterly Jim held a project management position with the Scottish Business Crime Centre specialising in the areas of business crime prevention and reduction.

Graeme PearsonContact
FORMER CHAIRMAN

Graeme Pearson is the former Director General and head of the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency. As the director general he led on all matters affecting Serious Organised Crime, Drug Misuse and Moneylaudering for Police Forces and law enforcement in Scotland. Before this appointment, Graeme held the office of Assistant Chief Constable at Strathclyde Police for five years leading on the portfolios overseeing initially Community Safety and thereafter Crime.

Since retiring from the police service Graeme Pearson has contributed to the Strategic Command Course at Bramshill and the Scottish Police Colleges on the separate subjects of "Police Leadership" and "Integrity". He has strong links with University of Glasgow and is a visiting lecturer with the Public Law Faculty and also the head of the newly created Unit for the Study of Serious Organised Crime as an Honorary Professor.

Graeme advises ID on all legal aspects of investigation and provides strategic direction.

On 6th May 2011, Graeme was elected as a list MSP to the Scottish Parliament, representing the South of Scotland region.   Everyone at ID wishes Graeme well in his new role and are sure that he will be an asset in Holyrood.
